Walking Disaster - Jamie McGuire Hmm.

That was my reaction when I finished Walking Disaster. I didn't love it, didn't hate it, just hmm. I was super stoked to read BD from Travis's point of view, but I was kind of left lacking. I actually connected with him more through Abby's point of view than I did through his own book, which is frustrating because this is his freaking book. I was really annoyed by Abby in this book as compared to BD also. Seeing her strictly through Travis's book would be a mistake, she loses the vulnerability that made you understand her actions (sometimes anyway, I still wanted to bitch slap her for being an idiot quite a few times) in BD. Also the epilogue.I didn't like it, and I usually love epilogues. It just did not jive at all.

Now that I've complained some, there were things that I liked about WD, like that we got to see some of the scenes that I really wanted to know about from BD. At least we got to see some non quite as crazy Travis moments.

"Abby touched her palm to my cheek. "You know what, Mr. Maddox?"

"What, baby?"

Her expression turned serious.
"In another life, I could love you."
I watched her for a moment, staring into her glassed over eyes. She was drunk, but just for a moment it didn't seem wrong to pretend that she meant it.

"I might love you in this one."

I also really dug Shepley and Trenton. We only got to see pieces of them, but even that little bit that we got of them and the rest of Travis's family is what redeemed the things that bothered me in book. I hope that we get more of them in the future. Also the prologue was a killer. I'll admit that I got all kinds of teary-eyed over it.

I will probably not be in the majority but, all in all, I was just kind of egh over Walking Disaster. It was an okay read, but a lot of what made Beautiful Disaster was just lost in translation..
