Going Under - S. Walden I am kind of wavering as to a review right now. I am not really sure what to think. I have so many questions about the characters, what went down, etc.

Essentially, Going Under is about a girl coming to terms with her best friend's suicide by getting revenge for her. My biggest issue with this though is it felt more out of straight up guilt than actually being getting revenge for Beth and I was not digging that. However, being willing to stand up and fight back for any reason is better than not. Especially at 18. Brooke,I think, was portrayed well for the situation that she was in. She was obviously struggling and decided to do something incredibly stupid, and at the same time, brave about it. It was hard reading about everything that she had done , she was so blatant that it made it hard for me to think that she wasn't secretly going on with her original plan for getting payback of getting raped herself by Cal the entire time, unknowingly or not. I think that was what made it harder for me to connect with the book. I couldn't get into her relationship with Ryan, her dad or even Gretchen. I spent every bit of the book dreading the ending because I knew that it was not going to be good. The ending was as bad as I thought it was going to be too. In that though, I think the author missed an opportunity. Once the big bad happened, it all went so quick. I would have loved the opportunity to see more of Brooke through this. Same with the epilogue. If I had a hard time connecting with Ryan and Brooke before, it really went beyond me here. I am happy with it in that I am happy that she was able to get there. I just wish I would have been able to understand how.
