Emerge - S.E. Hall

3.5ish stars.

Emerge was a cute, sweet, fast and incredibly predictable read. I'm generally pretty good at predicting was is going to happen in books, not to brag or anything, but it's a skill that I have. So, because of that, most of the predictability I see in books doesn't really bother me. However, it did kind of grate on my nerves a little in Emerge though. It doesn't really detract from the story, nor does it make me not want to finish the book though. Let me kind of explain my issues here in that it was the worst love triangle ever, since it wasn't a triangle. I was able to completely cross off one of the dudes pretty much at the beginning of the book. I didn't mind that because he wasn't who I was cheering for anyway, but it also made his parts of the story drag because I knew it was hopeless for the poor guy and in turn he bored me senseless. I do also think a couple of story lines could have been left out as they just weren't fleshed out enough in comparison with the rest of the book. Other than that, it was a solid NA read. Laney was a good Southern girl next door character from an author that clearly was raised in the South because she nailed it. And the Crew, well I think anyone would want to have friends like them. I'm looking forward to checking out the next book to see more of them and also to see if said dumped dude can be removed from the boring category.
